Team MFF

Hi! We're Machines For Freedom. We create cycling apparel for women. When we're not doing that, we're out riding.

We’ve had a great time getting to know many of you. Whether it’s in person at a ride or clinic, emails back and forth about fit and function, or just mutual likes on Instagram, we’re happy to be connecting with women who ride across the world. If we haven’t had the chance to meet or ride together yet, here’s a little about us.

( We’re always down for a chat, too. Email us!)

Favorite Route

The climb to Crystal Lake.  After 26 miles of steady climbing the french fries and cold coca-cola at the Cafe taste amazing!  And the descent is, hands down, my favorite in SoCal.  30 minutes of wide sweeping turns, little traffic, and epic views.

Best Memory on a Bike Ever

I love when the best memories only become great in retrospect.  A few years ago I went out for a small group ride during the only day of torrential rain in an otherwise dry winter.  It was freezing, and in typical Angeleno style, the whole group was caught out in the cold completely ill-prepaired for the conditions.  After the final decent through some sketchy traffic, oil mixed with mud splattering up in our faces and eyes, we finally hit the coast for the final stretch home.  At this point the group had dwindled to me, the one other girl on the ride, and few guys, but as soon as we hit the coast the guys bolted!  I hesitated, and I don't know if my legs were tired or frozen, but I didn't have it in me to chase them down.  I remember looking at the girl riding next to me and saying "so much for chivalry!".  We both laughed, then took long pulls into headwinds and sheets of rain to get each other home.  I'm pretty sure that's the first time I rode with Tracy Chandler and we've been riding buddies, and the best of friends, ever since!

Bucket List Ride

I can't possibly pick one.  Alaska, Utah, and the Rockies are all on my list.  But drop me, and my bike, into the middle of any beautiful mountain pass and I'm happy.

Best Memory on a Bike Ever

One evening we were riding home after a photo shoot. It was getting dark and we needed to get back fast. We took a shortcut along a section of Pacific Coast Highway that was closed due to rock slides. It was empty... not a car or person in sight, just a strand of road along the crashing waves and golden sand. We tucked in to a pace-line and got up to speed, flat-out barreling down a wide empty highway, racing the setting sun. It felt like we had the whole California coast all to ourselves. I’ll never forget it.

Bucket List Ride

California to Texas, Montana, Olympic Peninsula, Mexico City, Japan, Northern Africa, the list goes on. I can’t think of a better way to see the world than by bike.

Ginger is like one of those little birds that helps Cinderella get dressed. She handles daily ops at Machines HQ, puts words to the stories behind our products, and helps us connect with all of you. She's probably the only cyclist ever who likes climbing more than descending.

Best Memory on a Bike Ever

We heard there was a trail connecting Croton Dam to NYC. We found it and shredded it all the way home. It was my first RBOR experience and the most fun I've ever had in the dirt.
